01 / The right moment
Start with a reason to show it.
A good fit when…
You want to introduce a real homepage offer, with one message and one next step.
Choose another approach when…
You need guaranteed first-time-customer targeting. Browser visits do not establish purchase history.
02 / Make it yours
Copy you can work with.
Replace the example offer, product language and destination with your own. You can also select and copy the text below.

A starting point for your rules.
These are test settings—not a promise of the best conversion rate. Select your own campaign dates and check them in your store’s timezone.

04 / Build in Prime
Recreate the example, step by step.
Open Prime from Shopify, create a message popup and choose a suitable starting template. The library does not import a campaign into your store.
Prepare the welcome offer
Choose an existing Shopify discount. Check eligible products, customer eligibility, dates and usage limits. HELLO10 is a fictional example, not a working code.
Keep the message short
Add a heading, one paragraph, a coupon block and one button. Replace the sample collection destination with a useful first stop in your store.
Give the page a head start
Choose After a delay, start with 8 seconds, target the homepage and use once per session. Eight seconds is a test starting point, not a proven best time.
Check the audience defaults
Choose All qualified visitors, clear Returning visitors only and set all three activity thresholds to zero. Other delivery requirements, including consent, still apply.
Preview desktop and mobile, save your changes and review the published version. Enable Prime’s theme app embed on the current theme before testing the storefront. A saved draft alone is not a live popup.
05 / Before you publish
Check the journey, not just the design.
- Wait on the homepage for the configured delay.
- Dismiss and reload in the same session; the popup should stay suppressed.
- Visit a product page; this homepage-only offer should not appear there.
- Try the real code with eligible and ineligible carts before launch.
Use an eligible, consented test context. Keep the close control reachable, check the button destination and verify the experience on your real theme. See the mobile checklist if text or controls do not fit.
06 / Learn from the message
Change the welcome, not the saving
Compare “Find your next favorite” with “A little welcome, on us.” Keep the code, audience and timing unchanged.
Compare engagement across enough deliveries. More clicks alone do not prove more purchases.
Use A/B variants to compare one change at a time. These examples do not include claimed conversion results.
Decide what success means before you test.
Start with the next step this message asks for: a click through to the collection. Compare CTA clicks against popup deliveries for the same eligible audience and period. Keep test visits separate. A handful of clicks is not enough to name a winner.
A clicked button or copied coupon is not a completed order. Check discount usage and orders separately in Shopify where available; shared codes do not identify which popup caused a sale. Comparing two messages also does not prove either beats showing no popup.
Keep the shopper in control.
Make the close button easy to reach and test repeat limits, mobile layouts and both consent choices. Do not cover the content as soon as a search visitor arrives. A delay alone does not guarantee a good experience or protect search rankings.

Useful details
Before you choose this recipe.
Does this show only to new customers?
No. It welcomes eligible homepage visitors. Browser activity is not purchase history; Shopify must enforce any first-order restriction.
Does a shopper need to subscribe?
No. This example shows an existing coupon directly. It does not capture email addresses or create subscriber-specific codes.
Will this work without analytics consent?
Do not assume it will. Prime’s delivery and activity-based rules depend on the available consented context. Verify the outcome with both consent choices; never bypass a shopper’s choice to make a campaign appear.
